What To Expect
Visiting a church for the first time can feel a little awkward. Here are a few things that might help you know what to expect.
Come
Comfortable.
You don’t need to come in your best dress or on your best behavior.
Common is casual, small, and relational. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in, and don’t worry about bringing anything. You’re welcome to simply come, observe, and receive.
Your presence is enough.
-
You’ll see everything from shorts and T-shirts to dresses and button-downs. If you like taking notes, bring a Bible and journal, but Scripture will also be displayed on the screen.
There’s no expectation for visitors to give, and you won’t be pressured to participate in anything you’re uncomfortable with.
When You
Arrive
We gather Sundays at 10:30 AM at the Boys & Girls Club.
Park, come through the main entrance, and we’ll help you from there. Someone will be available to welcome you, answer questions, and point you toward coffee, restrooms, Common Kids, and our worship space.
-
We’re a small church, so you’ll probably be noticed—but we’ll do our best not to overwhelm you. We hope you experience Common as a place where people are genuinely glad you’re here while also giving you space to settle in at your own pace.
What Sundays
Are Like
Casual and relational. Intentional and sincere.
We worship together, take a short intermission, hear teaching from Scripture, and end with space for Communion, worship, and prayer.
Participate as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
-
We begin with a few songs of family worship with our children in the room. After worship, we take a brief intermission while parents take children to Common Kids and everyone else has an opportunity to grab coffee or connect with others.
We then gather for teaching. Most Sundays we work our way through a book of the Bible passage by passage.
We end with worship, Communion, and an opportunity to receive prayer. Stand or sit. Sing or listen. Receive Communion or remain in your seat. Ask for prayer or simply observe. There’s no pressure to perform or pretend.
Common
Kids
Your kids are part of the church—not just childcare while the adults have church.
Children begin the morning worshiping with everyone before transitioning to Common Kids for age-appropriate biblical teaching, activities, and play.
And while Common may feel casual, we take your children’s safety seriously.
-
Common Kids comes alongside parents in the spiritual formation of their children, helping them learn Scripture and the stories that shape their understanding of who God is.
Our volunteers are background checked, we maintain a two-adult standard, access to the kids area is limited, and our check-in system uses matching parent and child stickers for pickup.
If your child isn’t ready for Common Kids, that’s okay. Children are always welcome to stay with you for the entire gathering. Middle and high school students remain with the adults on Sunday mornings.
You’re Welcome Here
You don’t have to figure Common out before you come.
Whether church has been part of your life for years, it’s been a long time, or you’re simply trying to figure out what you believe, there’s room for you to come and take your time.
We’re happy to walk with you at whatever pace makes sense for you.
